Owls again

In April last year I posted about the very dead owl found behind our chimney whilst decorating.

Sadly today we found another three (whilst rescuing a very alive magpie!) None of them were ringed, and two appeared to be juveniles. They appeared to be tawny, or at least looked very like the last specimen.

I have no idea what it is about our chimney which makes birds likely to fall down it, but a review by a roofer seems long overdue. A great shame.

Dandelion

Whilst I appreciate the attempts of the Whitaker Museum staff to increase botanical awareness…
